Eurofins Eaton Analytical in South Bend, Indiana carried out a microplastics-in-air sampling campaign at our downtown facility, located at 110 South Hill Street, South Bend, IN 46617. The sampling site is situated in a secure, fenced courtyard on the building’s premises—well exposed to ambient weather yet separated from direct human interference. The site is located in the heart of downtown South Bend.

Sampling Protocol, Team, and Execution
The experiment commenced on June 25, 2024, and continued through July 2, 2024. On the first day, sampling bottles were filled with 500 mL of ultrapure water. Each day, an additional 100 mL of ultrapure water was added to the funnels to maintain consistent particle collection throughout the sampling period.
The experiment was conducted by four members of the project management team at Eurofins Eaton Analytical in South Bend. Their coordinated efforts ensured adherence to the sampling protocol and the collection of high-quality data throughout the campaign.
The roof surrounding the immediate area of the courtyard is composed of TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin) and EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer).
