Sampling sacramento

Eurofins Environment Testing Northern California is located in an urban business zone of West Sacramento, surrounded by various commercial establishments. For the sampling phase, the designated area was the rear parking lot within the liquid nitrogen tank enclosure, which was chosen to minimize human interference and potential safety hazards (as shown in the image above).

During the one-week sampling period, the weather conditions were consistently sunny and dry, with temperatures reaching above 32° Celsius (90° Fahrenheit) and minimal wind. This time of year, coincides with the release of abundant pollen from surrounding trees, resulting in an increased presence of fine green particles in the environment, some of which were collected in our samples.

Each day, the funnels used for collection were washed down with approximately 250 mL of microplastics analysis grade (MAG) water to enhance particle collection.
